Our
Pursuit is Relentless
Walk into any hospital room or corridor. You will see faces, lots of them.
Faces of patients, their relatives and friends – faces
of hope, faces of rejoicing at news of recovery, faces
of cheer and encouragement, caring faces, even faces
of fear and uncertainty for a loved one.
In an instant, a face of sadness can turn to joy at good news of a recovery; a face of fear can turn to peace at a caring touch or a word of encouragement.
For these faces, our staff live and work daily. For them, we pursue excellence like never before. Our ability to harness our skills, practices, technology, and systems into patient-centric care gives strength and hope to these faces.
Our pursuit is relentless. For we deal with people who come to us daily with hope in their hearts. It is our duty, our calling, to try and make those hopes a reality.
And add years of healthy life to our patients.

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine's medical students and researchers are expected to improve patient care, delivery and outcomes.
Read on to find out how we strive to welcome new frontiers as we embark on the development of Singapore's newest medical school- the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCSoM). In the July/August issue of Lifewise, Senior Vice Dean of the LKCSoM, Professor Martyn Partridge shares his insights on how NHG staff are shaping the development of this new school in terms of clinical curriculum, clinical teaching staff and what he thinks will set the LKCSoM student apart from other medical student.
In the September/October issue of Lifewise, the Founding Dean of the LKCSoM, Professor Stephen Smith, explains how the way ahead for medicine lies in the integration of ideas and the marrying of minds of doctors, researchers and engineers. He also explains how medical research and improving patient healthcare is interdisciplinary in nature.

The
quest for quality and service excellence at
NHG is relentless. We understand that being ill, and having to leave the comfort of home for medical treatment is a doubly daunting experience. With our experience in serving patients, we know how to make them feel welcomed and at home.
Quality standards, benchmarked against the
world’s best, are a top priority in NHG.
Quality, an abiding tenet, defines and distinguishes
who we are at home and abroad. In building a culture of safety in our hospitals and clinics, we make quality everybody’s business – from the Board members right down to the hospital attendants. Strong leadership and clear lines of responsibility help to transform our culture, work methods and healthcare delivery systems.
Staff at all levels – from the receptionists
to the nurses and doctors – are well schooled
in our CARE standards – which incorporate
Confidence, Attentiveness, Respect and Empathy.
The aim of inculcating the CARE standards in
all staff in the different institutions is to
ensure that patients enjoy the same and consistent
level of service anywhere in NHG. |
