You are cordially invited to attend the Healthcare Humanity Award 2009 presentation ceremony on 18 May 2009 (Monday), 2.30pm, at the NTUC Centre Auditorium. This year, 50 award winners will be receiving their awards from President S R Nathan, Patron of The Courage Fund. Each award comprises of a medallion and $1,500 cash.

Making a difference is the primary motivator for these healthcare workers. Despite the global recession and the looming threat of the Influenza A (H1N1) pandemic, these unsung heroes continue to take it upon themselves to improve quality of patient care, volunteering their time, money and skills to the less fortunate - from participating in medical mission trips to disaster-stricken areas, to simple things like paying for their patients' meals and transport. Many have also performed the act of palliative care not only to their patients, but also to the infirmed community as well.

In recognition of their giving spirit despite all adversities and their relentless care to the nation, community and patients, we celebrate these healthcare workers. They embody the values of courage, extraordinary dedication, selflessness, steadfastness in ethics, compassion and humanity - all that underscore healthcare as a noble profession.

Launched in 2004, the annual Healthcare Humanity Award is a continuing legacy of the Courage Awards, first given out in 2003 to recognise healthcare workers who fought the deadly SARS virus with uncommon valour and selfless dedication. Today, the award continues to recognise and honour healthcare workers who are inspirational role models.
