The media is cordially invited to attend the inaugural Healthcare Humanity Awards presentation ceremony on 31 May 2004 (Mon), 3-5pm, at The Oriental Hotel, Level 1 Ballroom. This year's 34 award winners will each be receiving a medallion and $1,500 cash from President SR Nathan, Patron of The Courage Fund.

31 May will always be a symbolic day for Singapore, when we as a nation triumphed over the SARS virus and was declared SARS-free. To commemorate the anniversary, The Courage Fund will present the inaugural Healthcare Humanity Awards to outstanding healthcare workers. The Awards, which will be an annual event from 2004 onwards, is a continuing legacy to the Courage Awards which were given out last year to healthcare workers who fought the deadly SARS virus with uncommon valor and selfless dedication. The Healthcare Humanity Awards will honour and recognise healthcare workers who are inspirational role models exemplifying the values of courage, extraordinary dedication, selflessness, steadfastness in ethics, compassion and humanity. These values underscore that healthcare is a noble profession. Through the Awards, we also hope to raise the public profile of healthcare workers and enhance the prestige and respect for the profession.
