On August 2, 2003, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will dedicate a concert to healthcare professionals who stood steadfast in the fight against SARS and to the many donors who unstintly gave to The Courage Fund.
President S R Nathan, Patron-in-Chief of The Courage Fund, and Mrs Nathan will be the Guests-of-Honour. Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Acting Minister for Ministry of Health will also grace the event.
The Courage Fund will also use the tribute concert, “Familiar Favourites - Dances of the World” as a milestone to mark the close of the chapter on donations, while concentrating on implementing the disbursement plans and schemes announced by the Board of Trustees for the Fund thus far.
The idea of a concert to thank and appreciate healthcare workers and donors to The Courage Fund was mooted out during one of the Working Committee’s discussion in May. The committee decided on something entertaining but dignified that would reflect the nobility of the healthcare profession and the noble and generous spirit of donors.
The Lee Foundation stepped in to sponsor the cost of the concert while the SSO readily accepted the idea and agreed to dedicate their performance on August 2, 2003.
The concert will be preceded by a reception where donors, both corporate and individual, and healthcare workers will meet. |
