Thanks to compassionate Singaporeans and spirited companies, The Courage Fund has exceeded $6 million today.
At this afternoon’s cheque presentation ceremony, Jurong Technologies’ Chairman, Mr Lua Cheng Eng, presented his company’s donation for $200,000. This sum had been previously announced. DaimlerChrysler South East Asia and Mazda Motors Singapore Pte Ltd each gave $50,000, and the Singapore Bodybuilders’ Federation gave $2,000.
“This sum is just a small token of our concern for all our fellow countrymen who have, in one way or another, been unfortunately caught up in this little-known but deadly affliction,” said Mr Paul Chua, President of Singapore Bodybuilders’ Federation.
The Singapore Buddhist Lodge also donated $100,000. In addition, Fast food chains are supporting the Fund. For every Happy Meal™ and Extra Value Meal™ sold on Labour Day, McDonald’s will donate $1 to the Fund.
Members of the public can also make cash donations at any McDonald’s, Burger King and Starbucks outlets. The Courage Fund donation boxes will be available at every outlet island wide. This brings the total number of Courage Fund donation boxes to 415.
The Singtel hotline number 1900 112 8811 and *8811 will be replaced by a new hotline number 1900 112 1333 effectively from 1st May. The Singtel dollar-for-dollar match ends today.
