Two kids gave $275 from their grandfather's birthday celebration

“Dear SARs Caregiver,” the letter read, “I am nine years old and I’m sending $275 to help for the SARs care … My brother won it at my grandpa’s 69th birthday celebration. I hope it’s useful. I feel very sorry for the people who have SARs.”

These were just two of the many children and young people who raised money towards The Courage Fund today. Children and teachers from Chai Chee Secondary School raised $1,394.17, Fuhua Primary School $1,298.56 and Anderson Secondary School $315.00.;

Since its launch, nine schools have donated to the Fund: Anderson Secondary School, Canossa Convent School, Chai Chee Secondary School, Chung Cheng High Main School, Fuhua Primary School, Gongshang Primary School Alumni Association, Lowrey Music School, National Junior College (Class of 1A05 2002) and T.E.D Huaxia School of Management.

New donations that came in today amounted to $394,308.59. Of this, $300,000 was from Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple.

From today, members of the public can donate to The Courage Fund via over 180 AXS Stations island wide. Donors can indicate the amount they wish to contribute to the Fund. This arrangement is made possible by AXS InfoComm Pte Ltd which will absorb all administration fees for the donations.

The daily breakdown is as follows:

Corporate Donations $3,740,499.23
New donations today $ 325,233.10
Total to date $4,065,732.33

Public Donations $2,435,816.01
New donations today $ 69,075.49

Total to date $2,504,891.50

The Fund to date stands at $6,570,623.83. This sum does not include the government’s $1M contribution and dollar-for-dollar match.

How to make a donation to The Courage Fund?

(A) Organisations
Organisations interested to raise funds towards The Courage Fund are welcome to write in with their promotion concept with details such as type of product, % of sales revenue to be pledged and wordings to be used in the advertising and/or promotional materials. Please write in to:

(B) By Cheque
A crossed cheque made payable to “The Courage Fund” should be sent to The Courage Fund, c/o National Healthcare Group, 6 Commonwealth Lane, Level 6 GMTI Building, Singapore 149547.

For the purpose of issuing receipts, donors are encouraged to include their full name, address and contact number on the reverse sides of cheques. Donors should not send any cash by mail. Cash donations can be made in person at National Healthcare Group office.

(C) By Phone
Members of the public can donate to the fund by calling 1900-112-1333. This service is provided by Singtel.

(D) By Internet Banking
DBS and POSB customers can donate to The Courage Fund via DBS Internet Banking and DBS Internet Kiosks. DBS Internet Banking is available at www.dbs.com/ebanking/internet/login and DBS Internet Kiosks are located island wide.

(E) By AXS Stations
