We invite members of the media to attend a cheque presentation ceremony to The Courage Fund by the following companies:
1) Jurong Technologies - $200,000
2) Mazda Motors - $50,000
3) DaimlerChrysler South East Asia - $50,000
4) Singapore Bodybuilder’s Federation - $2,000
Dr Lim Suet Wun, Chairman of the Working Committee of The Courage Fund and CEO of Tan Tock Seng Hospital will be receiving the cheques.
With their contributions, our donors have also sent in cards, notes, messages, drawings and pictures to express their feelings and empathy. These will also be available for viewing and photography tomorrow.
The Fund has received overwhelming support since its launch on 11 April 2003. The total amount raised as of 29 April is $5,720,748.21, not inclusive of the government’s $1M contribution and dollar-for-dollar match.

Jurong Technologies
Singapore exchange listed Electronics Contract Manufacturer, Jurong Technologies Industrial Corporation Ltd provides electronics Contract Manufacturing (CM) services to local and overseas electronics Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
It was listed on the Main Board of the Singapore Exchange in April 2000. The company has production facilities in Singapore, Malaysia, Suzhou (China), and Batam (Indonesia).
Mr Lua Cheng Eng, Chairman of Jurong Technologies, said : “The SARs virus has caused hardship to Singaporeans, but has also highlighted the courage and selflessness of our healthcare workers at the frontline of the fight against this invisible enemy.”
“Jurong Technologies, as a responsible and caring corporate citizen, is making this contribution to help the victims and our courageous healthcare workers,” Mr Lua added.
Mr Lua Cheng Eng will be attending the presentation ceremony.
Mazda Motors
Our core business is in the sale and distribution of new Mazda cars, genuine spare parts and after-sales service. “As part of the organisation’s ongoing community service, we support, salute and honour the selfless dedication, sacrifices and courage of all our healthcare professionals and workers in this worthy cause. The headquarters office of DaimlerChrysler, located in Singapore, oversees operations in South East Asia, Taiwan and Korea.
DaimlerChrysler employs over 500 people in Singapore and are an active supporter of social, cultural and arts activities in the country.

Singapore Bodybuilders’ Federation
The Singapore Bodybuilders’ Federation (SBBF) is led by President Datuk Paul Chua, who is also the Secretary-General of the Asian Bodybuilding Federation and Commonwealth Bodybuilding Federation.
“It is just a token of our concern for all our fellow countrymen who have, in one way or another, been unfortunately caught up in this little-known but deadly affliction,” said Mr Paul Chua.
“It’s to those who survived the worst but had to undergo such trauma and pain, as well as to all those who lost their loved ones to this epidemic.”
Mr Chua also paid tribute to the medical professionals in the fight against SARs when he said: “We also want to convey a big ‘thank you’ to the frontline staff who are treating the SARs patients. We will be praying everyday for your good health and safety.”
Out of the $2,000 donation to The Courage Fund, $1,200 comes from 10% of the ticket sales for the 41st National Bodybuilding Championships scheduled for 4 to 6 July 2003.
Ms Angela Ferdinands, Honorary Treasurer, Mr Halim Haron, Gold Medalist Asian Games 2002 and Mr Simon Chua, Gold Medalist Asian Games 2002 will be present at the presentation ceremony. |
