In conjunction with World COPD Day, the NHG TAP (The Airways Programme) will be holding a COPD public awareness and education carnival on 31 October at the open space outside the Toa Payoh Library. The Theme of this event is "COPD: makes one step feel like a million."
This event focuses on two key messages. First – that COPD is a debilitating disease and is best avoided by stopping smoking; and second - a smoker may have COPD without knowing – early detection will allow for early treatment to slow down its progression.
Highlights of the event include general health screenings will be provided to pre-registered participants and a Smokerlyzer and Lung Function test that will be performed on selected members of the public who are smokers with symptoms.
Pharmacists will also be on-site to provide smoking cessation counseling. To find out more about COPD, come on down to the event.
