On 20 July, College received a group of senior leaders from 3 Universities (The Thailand Red Cross College of Nursing, Payap University and Madidol University) and the Healthcare Accreditation Institute from Thailand.

The visit was part of the Train-of-Trainers Program organized by NHG and Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). Leaders from the organizations involved in the Program were invited to visit Singapore to better understand the local healthcare system as well as Quality Improvement and Patient Safety programs in NHG for similar improvement initiatives to be implemented in their organizations after their staff are trained by NHG and NP.

It was a rich and exciting 4-day experience for the delegates.

On the first day, the group was received and welcomed by Prof Chee Yam Cheng, Mrs Nellie Yeo, Dr Tai Hwei Yee and the College team. After Prof Chee Yam Cheng’s opening speech, Dr Lee Chien Earn, Senior Director, Healthcare Performance Group from MOH provided an overview of Singapore healthcare system. Following this, Mrs Nellie Yeo delivered a presentation on NHG Quality Journey.

In their subsequent stops at TTSH, Woodlands Polyclinic and IHM, the group had a multitude of opportunities to witness our healthcare system in operation and “NHG Quality” in action. The group also spent one day visiting Ngee Ann Polyclinic and NUHS.

Areas the group was most impressed with during the visit include:
"All presentations, observations"
"Visit to TTSH and Woodlands Polyclinic"
"Collaborative work for the improvement of quality of care"

Overall comments:
"Everything is excellent! A+++"
"Thank you everyone, I have learned a lot!"
" All of you do your best for us. Thank you very very much!"
"Warm hospitality!"
"Food is excellent but too much"
sad smiley emoticon (take note, area for improvement)

Furthermore, every leader from the group made a commitment to giving their “support and push for quality improvement and patient safety programs to be implemented” in their respective organizations after they return to Thailand.

Fortunately, it was not all business and no play. On the last day, with an extra hour at lunch, we managed to squeeze in a short trip to see the much-talked about ‘Durian’, which most of the delegates didn’t find time to visit due to their packed schedule. Standing at the front of Esplanade facing Marina Bay Sands and the Merlion, everybody had great fun posing and snapping pictures, and laughed like children. What a beautiful memory to bring home!
