Writeup on Orientation for New Residents
The orientation for the pioneer batch of residents commenced on 23 Apr 10, and Institute of Clinical Education (ICE) helped to coordinate the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training from 28 - 30 April 2010 for 46 residents who would be joining NUHS.
This group of trainees was imparted with the necessary knowledge and skills in the areas of Airway, Pacing, CPR and the usage of the Defibrillator machine. They were also given practice scenarios mimicking real life situations to help them handle patients better when they start work in the hospitals. On the final day, they were tested on both the theory and practical aspects of ACLS. All of them passed the tests, and successfully attained the ACLS certification.
“I enjoyed the scenario practices - they were practical and definitely useful for us when we start work.”
- Dr Dominic Chen, NUHS Resident
